Welcome to South Florida! I may be biased, but I do feel extremely lucky and blessed to live and work in such a tropical paradise. Here in South Florida, we are outdoors as much as possible, enjoying our almost always sunny weather, our parks, our beaches, our waters, and as many outdoor activities as possible. We have camping, and wildlife and marine destinations, as well as close proximity to the stunning Florida Keys, the Bahamas, and the Carribean. On top of that, we are convienently located only a few miles from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and the renowned gateway of Port Everglades, home to many of the worlds major cruise ships berths, arrivals and departures. Most of all, we have location, location, location. We are known as "The Gold Coast","The Treasure Coast", and The Sunshine State, and we are a sparkling and alluring destination for people from all over the world all year round.
The boating here is unparalled, and as such we are known as the "Venice of America" because of the extensive waterways (185 miles worth) through out Fort Lauderdale alone. Yachting is a lifestyle here (chartering or living on one), and in and around Fort Lauderdale you will see some of the largest, most beautiful and spectacular yachts and sailboats in the world. As a result of our water/boat oriented lifestyle here, we have one of the largest concentrations of marinas anywhere in the country. But beyond our beautiful waterways, boats and beaches, we have a lot of other things to enjoy.
Are you a golfer? Florida is thegolf course capital of the U.S., with over 1,100 golf courses in Florida alone. Here in South Florida/Broward County, we have close to 60 gorgeous golf courses, including world famous championship links. Do you dive or snorkel? Our diving is also world renowned, and we have one of the few living coral reefs in the world that you can reach from shore. Do you like to fish? Greater Fort Lauderdale has both freshwater andsaltwaterworld classfishing.
Are you a shopper? We have some of the best shopping in the world. Dont feel like driving? Take a boat or a water taxi to your destination. We have a large selection of diverse and wonderful restaurants through out South Florida/ Broward County, and besides outdoor activities, there is so much to see and do. (of course, relaxing is always a wonderful option too).
